Not Today, Brady

Orly Minazad is a freelance writer and regrets it every day of her life. She moved to the States from Iran in 1991 with her family seeking better opportunities only to waste them earning a Masters in Professional Writing degree from USC which no longer exists, cost a lot of money, and for which she has nothing to show. No, she is not bitter at all. Why do you ask? Oh, you didn’t, ok. She lives with her husband and son in Los Angeles where she spends the day loading and unloading the dishwasher.

In light of recent news regarding Tom Brady’s SECOND retirement, I’d like to officially say I don’t give a fuck. I didn’t care the first time and I definitely don’t care this time. And on the day Beyonce announces her Renaissance tour? Not today, Satan. It’s the first day of Black History Month. Have some respect.

But I do wish Tom Brady nothing but the best spending his billions of bitcoin money on very flashy plaid suits to talk football on whatever that sports channel is that puts my husband to sleep and when I wake him up to talk about my feelings he says not now, I’m watching the highlights. You know what I’m talking about right? Those crazy suits with the patterns that athletes wear for TV appearances?

No matter what you think about him, I suppose as an athlete there’s something admirable about continuing to play when you’re way past your prime and no one cares about you. That’s the kind of energy I want to channel going into my 40s. Unhinged denial.
