The Northern Boys: These Crude UK Seniors Are Hip Hop’s Most Unlikely Upstarts

With the release of their newest single, “Give It to Me,” three retirees from across the pond have seized their spot as the biggest surprise in all of party rap.

Retired school teachers and dueling MCs Norman Pain and Patrick Karneigh Jr. carry themselves with the swagger of a coked-out Bloodhound Gang tearing down the elderly home. The duo are joined by Kevin. Kevin just dances and smiles.

Known jointly as the Northern Boys, the UK hip hop group gained a bit of viral success with the release of the track “Party Time.” The lyrics are equal parts unhinged debauched party anthem and morbid death fantasy — somehow balancing the very disparate tones.

The Northern Boys followed up the success of “Party Time” with “Nobody Likes Me” and the recently released — and oddly inclusive — “Give It to Me.” Both tracks continue to push the envelope in terms of subversive subject matter yet remain fun and uplifting.

While the concept of three elderly Brits who rap about having a wank in the bog and uplifting the LGBTQ community seems too good to be true, for the time being the Northern Boys seem focused on having the best time with the time they have left.

So off we went. We were supposed to dress in…
