Save Det. Crashmore: Fans Rally to Help Support I Think You Should Leave Favorite

Dustin Waters is a writer from Macon, Ga, currently living in D.C. After years as a beat reporter in the Lowcountry, he now focuses his time on historical oddities, trashy movies, and the merits of professional wrestling.

Known best for his standout parts on I Think You Should Leave, longtime actor Biff Wiff has received an outpouring of support from fans as he faces an ongoing health scare.

With television acting credits stretching back to 1986, Wiff is most recognizable for his turns as Santa Claus playing the hardboiled Detective Crashmore. In Claus’s own words, the project is a “cosmic mix of the action of the ’90s combined with the exploitation films of the ’70s.” A true cinematic gumbo, if you will.

Wiff returned for I Think You Should Leave’s recently released third season, but the actor hasn’t quite been able to revel in his new spin as a shirt brother and Flynn’s grandpa. As was revealed in the launch of a new GoFundMe campaign, Wiff is once again battling cancer. Per the campaign page, Wiff stated, “I’m not sure how to respond. I’m back in the hospital again dealing with side effects of the cancer I was diagnosed with late last year and have no idea when or if I will recover.”

Wiff’s medical treatments haven’t stopped the actor from supporting the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. A recent post from Wiff’s Instagram page shows the veteran actor supporting strikers from what appears to be a hospital bed.

The GoFundMe campaign put together on Wiff’s behalf has received an incredible show of support from fans of I Think You Should Leave. At the time of writing, it has surpassed 1,500 donations, with many leaving comments quoting some of their favorite lines from the cult Netflix series.

Wiff acknowledged his fans and supporters on social media saying, “Thanks for the gratitude and very generous support from my excellent family, friends, and fans. The ITYSL community has been amazing. I love you each and every one. I hope you all enjoy season 3.”

Twisty Spy Show of the Week: Treason

This article was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist. It’s time to watch another spy show! This week’s selection is Treason on Netflix, which I carefully chose by letting Netflix autoplay it for me after I watched last week’s spy…

The Gilded Age Fears Drama Like Agnes van Rhijn Fears the Nouveau Riche

For a show about the scheming and social climbing of the nineteenth century’s wealthiest people, The Gilded Age is oddly devoid of, well, drama. This is surprising, given that it’s a show about one of America’s juiciest gossip eras. It’s also surprising merely because The Gilded Age is an entertainment program on TV, featuring people doing interesting things while dressed…
