John Oliver Makes the Time to Mock Vince McMahon’s Silly Little Mustache

A lot has been said recently regarding the shocking return of deranged billionaire Vince McMahon and the sale of the WWE. One absurd sprinkle to this whole shitshow sundae has been McMahon’s makeover since being ousted from his own company and returning from parts unknown: his weird little mustache.

Yes, despite maintaining a similar appearance for decades, the 77-year-old returned with his scalp and eyebrows dyed the color of pitch and sporting a new bit of facial hair that’s best described as “villain from a telenovela.” Speculation was sparked far and wide regarding McMahon’s Mr. Snrub-looking-ass.

Was it an attempt to assert some sort of youthful vitality while conducting negotiations for the merger? Was the mustache an attempt to steer the conversation away from his many sexual misdeeds that forced him from the company to begin with? Or was he simply looking to stop Spider-Man?

Well, we’ll likely never know. But what I do know is that John Oliver dedicated 76 seconds of his show Last Week Tonight to lambasting McMahon’s silent film-era glow-up.

McMahon and the WWE are not newcomers to Last Week Tonight. Oliver has taken aim at the company’s shady workers rights practices and business dealings in Saudi Arabia. While this most recent mustache roasting is all-too-brief, it is still worth savoring.

It’s Always Sunny: How Dennis Reynolds Became Our St. Anger

This article was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the show being covered here wouldn’t exist. In 2003, successful heavy metal group Metallica released the album St. Anger. The album’s title track played with the concept of a patron saint of, well, anger who “never gets respect.” …
